RXM and chassis allow I / O modules to be located a few kilometers from the mainframe. The RXM group consists of three identical modules that act as repeaters and extenders for the TRICON I / O bus and provide ground loop isolation. The master RXM set supports three remote bs by connecting to three remote RXM sets located in the remote chassis.
The RXM kit can be used for fiber optic cables with a communication rate of 375 KB / s. These devices provide maximum anti-static and electromagnetic interference capabilities, and support the configuration of optical modem and optical fiber point-to-point wiring. The remote site can be located 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) away from the main site.
The figure on the right shows the unidirectional routing of the three channels at the remote b. For each channel, one cable carries the data transmitted from the master RXM to the remote RXM, and the other cable carries the data received by the master RXM from the remote RXM. Each of the three channels must be connected to a pair of modules, and a total of six cables are required for each remote b.
